A degree in Computer Programming from SCTCC gives graduates flexibility to work almost anywhere. The first widespread use of high-level languages in the early 1960s transformed programming into something quite different from what it had been. I had a poke around Stack Overflow to find out more, and I discovered that while some seasoned programmers consider it a programming language, others don’t.

Most computer programmers work full time and though many work in offices, programming can be performed from almost any location. It’s easy to find programs that let you focus on a specialized computer programming major such as software development, video game programming, or web and mobile app development.

For instance, one language might allow code to be written quickly, whereas another one might provide more ability to optimize a program for better performance and stability. Therefore Java will never be the speed demon of computer languages, but it has its place as the bus has its place.

If you learn how to write simple programs, you will gain more knowledge about how a computer works. In most medium to large computer installations, programmers receive their instructions from systems analysts or computer software engineers. Students learn the fundamentals of Relational Databases design using Entity Relation diagrams, and use SQL to create, modify and query a database.

This degree strongly emphasizes programming and includes Java, C++ and Visual Basic.
